About Guiding Goose

After years of navigating life's everyday challenges and helping others make sense of complex information, I've noticed something:

Many capable adults feel overwhelmed by practical life decisions—not because they lack capability or intelligence, but because nobody ever taught them the skills.

From the time we graduate into the world, we’re expected to know how to “adult” successfully, but most of us learn through trial and error.

I've certainly made plenty of mistakes and learned many of these lessons the hard way myself!

Throughout my career, I’ve discovered that my true passion is helping people solve problems with creative and innovative solutions. Over time, I’ve come to realize that the same skills that made me successful in the corporate world could also help people navigate and simplify the practical decisions that shape their everyday lives.

That's why I've launched Guiding Goose Consulting.

My mission is simple:

To help people navigate life's practical challenges with clarity, confidence, and real-world guidance.

About David

I’m David Roberts. It’s nice to meet you!

My wife and I live in a suburb just outside of Indianapolis, and when I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me outdoors, and I’ll probably be hiking, BBQing, listening to music, or performing DIY repairs around the house.

I’m originally from Texas, but in 2022, we decided to make a change and embraced the adventure of a cross-country move.

As far as my career goes, after an early stint in the insurance industry, I’ve spent most of it as a technical writer and editor, helping to boil down complex information into documentation that’s easy to read and understand.

I got the name Guiding Goose from a years-long friendship with a pair of geese who lived in a nearby park.

From this unique experience, I learned that geese are fiercely loyal, incredibly courageous, and remarkably intelligent. They mate for life and will defend their mates and goslings with their lives. They also fly thousands of miles each year using landmarks to navigate, and they return to the same nesting grounds year after year.

But enough about me. I want to hear about you. What are your goals and aspirations, and how can I help you get there?
